Getting into town
Tangier Airport is roughly 20 to 30 minutes from the city centre by car, depending on traffic and your destination. ONDA lists a daytime fare of 100 MAD to Tangier city, rising to 150 MAD at night.
If you're staying around the Marina, Malabata or the old Medina, give the driver your exact hotel address. The fare and drop-off arrangements may depend on where you're going. Many Medina and Kasbah streets are closed to cars, so your driver may leave you at the nearest entrance for a short walk to your riad.

Day and night fares
Yes. ONDA lists Tangier city at 100 MAD during the day and 150 MAD at night. Its published night rates apply from 10:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. The photographed board shows a different surcharge and different hours. If your flight lands near the changeover, ask which fare applies when you arrange your taxi. Passport control may affect when you reach the rank.
Local taxi types
Grand taxis are generally larger vehicles used for airport journeys and longer trips between cities. Petit taxis are the smaller blue taxis around town, normally used for shorter journeys and charged by meter.
For airport arrivals, follow signs to the official airport taxi service. Once you're in the city, a petit taxi can be a cheaper choice for short trips between nearby neighbourhoods or hotels.
Another way into town
An airport bus service has been reported connecting the airport with Tangier, including the Tanger Ville train station area. Recent local guides put the fare at around 40 MAD per person, with departures roughly once an hour. However, the city's bus network changed operators in December 2025, and we haven't confirmed the airport service's latest timetable.
If you're travelling alone with little luggage, check the bus when you arrive. It won't take you directly to every hotel, so you may need another taxi or a short walk after getting off. Check the last departure before relying on it for a late flight.
